Default Got the 95 SSEi, some problems that need addressing

So, I got my 95 ssei home today, drove the last 100 miles without any brakes (a whole other story in itself, not going to share until it'* resolved).

Few problems it has...
1) The engine under light-medium acceleration would act like it was going to stall out, kick back up, and act like it was going to stall out again. I have a video of this but can't find my camera cord... I'm guessing either bad plugs/wires or a broken cam sensor (friend had this happen to his 92, same symptoms)

2) Tranny doesn't like overdrive...torque converter won't lock I guess...tcc solenoid possibly? TQC will lock sometimes, but then when the tranny gets warm it doesn't.

for any help.

Alright, backing up and bucking sounds ALOT like a plugged CAT to me, inspect your plugs and wires however non the less, check for plug wire arcing. A Good tune up might be needed.

TC not locking up on the highway, just went through that on my NEWLY built Trany, tc solienoid actually caused the TC clutch to burn up after only 4000 miles or so. Scan it for codes, it will throw a TCC Problem code most likely

Some background info: The car has been doing this quite awhile.

Oh yeah...the brakes are taking priority over everything at the moment.

So do you know your brake problem? Is it just a matter of doing them, whatever needs done?

And what about the catalitic converter? Had it checked out? It is probably not something you can do on your own, any muffler shop should have the means to check it out, the pressure and all.

I have a similar problem with my engine, it is not real bad, but the rpm'* act up now and again, usually around 30 mph with light to no throttle opening.

TCC - on a non-graded open highway, cruise it about 55 to 60, keep steady pressure on the gas, just enough to maintain the speed (do not use the cruise control for this) and without adjusting the gas, tap the brakes for just a split second. you should see the RPM'* jump up just a bit maybe about 100 to 200 RPM, and jump back down. If that happens, the TCC is locking up as it should.

I believe the brake problem is just a busted line to the rear left wheel. The car has no cat on it at all beucase it had clogged before (perhaps the pipe it was replaced with is clogged?)

I'll try the TCC tip as soon as the car is road legal.

I would pull the plugs to see if they are fouled. Check all parts of the ignition system. And get a scanner on there soon.

How fast do NGK TR55'* wear?

they have 40,000 miles on them

I've made up a list of what I need

Necessary to pass inspection:
1) E-brake fixed
2) Regular brakes fixed
3) EGR Valve replaced
4) New cat installed
5) Exhaust leaks fixed

Not necessary but wanted:
1) Rust on wheelwells sanded, primer'd and painted
2) Mega-detail on the interior
3) Front left wheel hub w/ bearing replaced
4) TCC Solenoid replaced

Update : scanned with a tech 2 tonight for DTCs, the only one was P1406 - bad EGR valve (knew this). I guess that means that plugs / wires or a tps is a culprit of the stalling.
