Default Good ol' theftlock stereo

This isn't a big deal, but I tried to disable my theftlock on the stereo. You're supposed to hold down 1 and 4 together until --- appears, then you enter the code and disable it. Well, I held down 1 and 4 for over a minute and it didn't show ---. So something'* messed up. I tried it on my friend'* 94 SE and it worked fine (in 5 sec). I know the code so I don't think I have a huge problem. But does anyone know anything in particular about the theftlock radios that could help me out? Anyone know anything about losing power to the engine and causing the radio not to work? Who knows, I'll probably get a cd player anyway. Thanks for the help.

Any dealer will give you the code if you show them your registration with the VIN number.
