So the bonne comes out of storage.... hmmmm gas smell!!!
start heading to the garage for the spring once over, buddy calls he was on his way with my suburban and the suburban died.
when i get to the suburban, while waiting for the tow truck, i check under the bonne
yup tell tale drips which had been splashing on the muffler
i call the jobber today to price out a tank and sending unit
tank no pblm
straps no pblm
sending unit BIG pblm 5 days special order out of the states 25% restocking charge
ive been told that they are a big pain in the a@@ to remove (damn canadian winters)
and are usually rotted beyond salvage
what has been your experience with this
are the tanks that cheap that they only last 8 yrs?

I did mine about 2 months ago.
Rock Auto...$285.00 (US) for the tank, sending unit and fuel pump.
Took about a week to arrive,
Buy fuel filler hose, vent hose and longer bolts before you start,
I had to cut the hoses off and the stock bolts a about 1/4" too short on the
passengers side with the replacment straps that are not bent to contour
around the tank properly.
Took about 1 1/2 hours total, working slow in the cold.

I had every intention of doing the job myself, done it before. But the gas tank was filled with gas to the max. And I was not able to siphen the gas out from the neck.

the bonne is going in monday for the spring service
sending unit is dealer only and its 400 bucks
i was going to do it myself but will be car less this week
by the way my friend cooked my engine in the suburban
overheated it and never noticed the temp guage pinned
i figure i am about 700 for the tank straps and sender
