The sending unit in my car had atleast 1/8" of hard rust /corrosion encasing the lines. There was no way I was not changing the unit. In fact, much of the entire length of my fuel and brake lines are like like. A disaster waiting to happen.

Lesson learned: Flush the underbody after a salty winter season. Plus, living on an Island surrounded by salt water is exactly friendly to metal.
