Hi everyone,
I have a 1996 Bonneville SSEi and the fuel door seems to be stuck. It does have the locking mechanism... My car was frozen shut the last night. Any suggestions on how to get the thing open.

Isn't there an emergency pull cord in the trunk to release the fuel door lock? Pull gently.

problem was resolved. thanks to a few great forum members!

i took it all apart and tried to pull on the cable... would not budge... so I had to pretty much ghetto up the latch so I can put gas in my car... oh well.

Did you ever figure out why the solenoid was solid and wouldn't move?

Bill, he eluded to the fact that it may have been frozen. Still not clear on this. Maybe lock de-icer could be a fix if just frozen?

I understand the elusion Mark.. I was one of the many he talked to last night. Even removing the soleniod and tugging the cable w/o soleniod didn't work.

I spoke with Bill and Pat last night and they had me remove the solenoid to try pulling on the cable. I removed the solenoid and pulling on the cable still would not do anything. So I then came to the conclusion I would get my fuel door open about 1/2 inch to an inch and press on the latch on the door until I could just pull it open. That worked and the door seems to stay closed now if I push on it... it just does not lock. no big deal really.

As far as the frozen part goes. There is no evidence of ice on the latch or anything... I did all of this outside in a fall jacket in the 10 degrees weather so I was more worried about just getting the door open.
