LOL Bill...we have 4 doors on our cars.

Do we know if this is an SLE or an SE? My thought is something just froze up.

Billboost, I'm asking about the 3 passenger doors for a very good reason. The fuel door unlocks with THEM, not with the driver'* door. If the other 3 doors don't unlock, the fuel door won't either. This is a very valid troubleshooting step so we can narrow down the problem.

I don't know the design of the '97s but is it possible to get a flexible piece of plastic and slip it in between the latch to open it that way?

1993 SLE was right, my SE has a locking gas door, and does have a manual release...if you look on the driver'* side in the trunk, it should be mounted right by the gas door, kinda in the fender, and mine has a white tab aiming downward that you can pull to unlock the gas door..i could get a picture if you want..but it'* not indicated anywhere that it is a manual unlock, so you'll have to look for a bit

Ok let'* reiterate what we know.

We do not know if he'* got a locking door or not.
He can not find a manual release.
He'* calling the car an SE, not SLE. SE wouldn't have the locking door typically, SLE would.

Lots of people have SLEs and don't know it.

For those that do know that they have the lock, does it matter that you use the remote or not?

you can unlock the fuel door with the power locks, using either the remote, or the button on the door, or it unlocks itself after parking and turning off the motor.

You sould be able to pull the door open slightly and look down into it to see a thin piece of metal the latch comes into from the rear (latch is just behind the finger tab). Bend that towards the front of the car. Be careful not to scratch the paint.

I'd be surprised if your year didn't have a manual release. The earlier cars don't, but yours should.
