Front windshield replacement cost? 1997 Bonneville SSE
They ordered me a good one today. Its a PPG. I noticed a scratch on the drivers side and then I got to looking at it and it had been dropped and cracked on the passenger side right below the hood level. The windshield wiper blade was covering the place where it impacted. It should be in tomorrow. I really could not believe it. The guys in the back of course said they did not notice the crack. Right! The HUD looked fine. I think they just got behind and were not paying attention to what they were doing.
You know how an old crack will have what looks like bubbles in it. This one did. It just got put on and the hell with it. The boss was out at the doctors office, so the crew just messed up.

I just called the local auto glass place and they came out and installed it for me for like 350, I thought it would be more cuz of the HUD windshield but I was wrong. (though I'll never admit that here again....)
Well I finally got my front windshield fixed $275 the HUD is perfect. The first replacement they broke and still installed it. The second one works great, but they spilled stuff looks like tar all over the top and hood of the car. I hope I never have to get glass work done again, because I am very skeptical of these guys.
My speaker cover came in today just like the Pontiac place said it would $7.95. I glued it in place to make sure it does not drop off again and all the others on the front doors too. I believe the tabs on the back of the covers broke and the grill fell off with the help of a big oversized foot hitting it.
Thread, "Jerk loses speaker cover in front passenger door," in this same section is what I am referring to.
We are using the car to go to a wedding this weekend. We need the space the Bonneville has to carry stuff down. I hope this car is fixed for a while. I believe in all since things started going bad with it, I have spent just over $4k. The car looks, drives and rides great. Maybe it will start being more dependable now. It has consumed some major bucks for me. If we could have found a car we liked better we would have traded it in at the beginning of the year, but this Bonneville is hard to beat.
I would have added front curb lights as the only option we do not have and I don't know if curb lights were offered on the 1997 Bonneville SSE. It is very comfortable, leather interior, hud, climate control, lots of lights for night time driving, and it is still getting around 27 mpg and that is not bad for a car this size loaded down 4 people and luggage. If it will just run now I will be very pleased. It has been a good car.
