my '93 SSE has the same problem, everything works but the recline on both seats....i looked under the seats and pressed it...the motor is moves the seat for a second and then something holds it up and the motor starts trying to twist the plate its attached too...

I still haven't figured out a way to fix this problem. It'* almost been a year! I did have them work mysteriously, on one hot summer day this last summer, and I thought they were magically fixed. But they weren't. It seems that the hot weather had something to do with them temporarily functioning.

does the motor try and turn the seat??? or is there no action at all??

interesting i believe that the motors are getting weak...i have had the same thing happen with my Passenger side seat...... the motor will turn with the cables removed and also it will move with One of the cables connected....

I would suggest swapping another motor from say the forward/back function and trying it to test the theory of the weak motor.

Sounds like the same problem I had on both of my bonnies, and on mine, the motor wasn't weak, the lube had dried up.
