Default freshening up an L67 (S2)

ok, i'm gearing up to start my L67 swap. i will be picking up a used L67 and giving it a quick once over before installing it.

money permiting i will be installing a mild cam and possibly rockers, since neither is possible with the motor in the car.

i also plan on replacing the oil and water pumps, and all of the outer gaskets (i will not be breaking into the longblock for simplicity'* sake. i'm on a budget but i realize that it will be cheaper to do this first, rather than after...

what other things should i check/repair/replace while the engine is out of the car?

Knock sensor, should replace it, just to be safe, freeze plugs, etc.

I haven't seen a knock sensor fail yet...

Stick with the ones you have..buy if you need to replace..they come straight out the bottom on S2'*.

Change out your valve stem seals if you tear the heads off. Oil pump would be a good idea too. To lower your chances of spinning a bearing, I would replace the main and rod bearings while it is out. Water pump, since its a total bitch when its in the car.

i haven't got the new motor yet. i did put an order in at my local yard. when a GTP shows up at auction and it runs, we're gonna grab it.

i'm not going into the shortblock as long as it'* solid. an if it isn't solid, i'm not gonna get it.
