Default 92 se wont start unless foot is on the gas pedal???

alright a buddy of mine just picked up a 92 se, it has a situation were the car wont start unless its got a full gas pedal down, im guessing a fuel filter or maybe even a pump, never dealt with a se before so any hints , fuel filter location, 150000km on the beast mint shape, we did get it fired up a couple of times with the gas pedal down, but once it started it blew black smoke out the back and didnt stay running after i let off the gas,

thanks guys

Pedal completely to the floor turns off the fuel injectors.

Close to the floor probably means the fuel pressure is leaking down and therefore you don't have enough pressure to start up.

Try checking pressure and looking for leak down.

Seems like there is a injector (or more) stuck open. When you floor the car not started, it puts it in flood mode to clear out the engine, that'* why it is starting up and dying when you let off the gas.

Yeah..check for this too...

Explains the choke looking smoke you see coming out the back.

On the 92...I believe it'* right under the passenger front footwell ...by the subframe mount.

check the pressure for leakdown... most likely it'* present. then if the black smoke is there..that'* a rich condition aka flooding. Check for bad injectors.

Do this, Take off the air cleaner, open the throttle blade and take a whiff in there. Does it smell strongly of gas? If so, it is either the FPR, or very leaky injectors. Of course, this is without the car running.
