Default First problem in a while

I was driving home from college just now and drving kinda hard i will add. And i went wot and it was liek the car hit a wall at 4,000 rpms. Almost a complete loss of power, it had all it wanted to to gain speed and rpms. I let it cool down alittle and tried it again and could only get it to 71mph and it had no more power. It had done this last summer a few times but went away. I thought the kitty (cat) was the problem but before i replacd it the problem went away. What do you guys think?

Hmm, sounds like it'* time to change the O2? When is the last time it was replaced? How about the EGR, is it working properly?

It also could be the cat. Any excessive heat or burning smell coming from under the car?
