on the coils, from top to bottom it goes,6-3-2-5-4-1

on the eng, the front or side thats closest to the rad it is 1-3-5, starting on the pass side.

in the back eng side, is 2-4-6. also starting on pass side

that help?

Yes. 97 and newer L67 (GTP, RegalGS, SSEi) coils are a little bit warmer than yours, and the MSD 8224 coils are slightly warmer than those.

But for the cost vs. benefit, it'* not worth upgrading until you crap a coil or two. Some people don't even notice the difference, and a majority of the top-25 cars here are still running on stock coils.
