Question Exhaust Manifold Raspy !!

95 B'Ville NSC Been sounded a lil loud from under the hood at take off. So, I decided to replace the gasket and come to find theres a bolt(1st Bolt, Front Manifold, Far PAss. Side) Broken off in the head. Went on ahead and changed the gasket knowing that I see where I losing pressure from. Put everything back together sounds the same. Aw, I also inspected the manifold aftyer removal. Went to shop yesterday to explain to the guy what my problem was, he knows Im a Auto Tech as well. He insist on the manifold being cracked or has a hole in it. HAvet gotten back under the car yet, but bought a practically new maniold already. Im going to replace it before I go back to the shop.

Now if the same problem persist, how difficult is it to tap that broken bolt out of the head while stil in the car ?

You would end up having to drill out the broken stud. Even with it being on the front bank, it still would be hard to do because of the angle the head is at.

Probably be easier to remove the head to do that kind of work. I'd hate to drill at a bad angle and hit a water jacket or something.

Yea I was thinking about that, the angle. But I did find my problem, the manifold was cracked like my skull !! AND NOT TO MENTION, I BROKE THE OTHER END FAR OUTSIDE BOLT IN THE HEAD, SO NOW I REALLY HAVE TO REMOVE IT TO HAVE IT DONE RIGHT. IF IT AINT ONE THING ITS SOMETHING ELSE. DANG IT
