engine oil
I just got my oil changed and I was about 500 miles past my due date. The guy told me my oil was pretty dark. After the oil change my oil was still a little on the dark side. What can I do to fix this and Is this a sign of another problem

My oil was consistantly dirty after oil changes, so I bought 5 quarts of cheap stuff, drained the old, put in the cheap stuff, ran it for a little while (like a quick 5 minute drive), drained it, changed the filter, put in the good stuff. And it'* looked pretty good ever since.

Many oil change places move cars through pretty quickly and don't allow for all of the oil to drain completely. As well there is a certain amount left in the bottom of the pan once supposedly all oil is drained. Do a couple of changes sooner and use better filters for the best results.

on the bad news/worst case/paranoid end of the spectrum, piston ring blowby can cause dirty oil (not saying it'* that, but it can cause)
