Default Emissions question

I believe I have a clogged catalyic converter (will finish up engine install today and find out for sure). If thats true, and Im almost sure it is, then I want to replace it with a high flow cat. My first question is which high flow do you all reccomend, and since it will have to wait at least 2 weeks until I get paid again, is it possible to pass an emission inspection without the cat/muffler connected to the engine?

I seem to remember my sisters bonne not being terribly loud without a muffler like alot of cars are, and if the cat is clogged i was just gonna leave everything disconnected from the manifold until I get a new cat. And the cars plates expired in july, so I need to get it inspected so my girlfriend can stop using my car everytime she has to work, so I was just wondering if you guys thought it was possible to pass an inspection without the exhaust hooked up.... It would still be in place though so they'd have something to hook their hoses up to, just not connected.

There'* no way you can pass any inspection or emissions with unhooked exhaust.

Go for something like a magnaflow off ebay...prices are good.

Do yourself a favor and quick call a muffler shop in your area and see what they will charge for hi-flow cat and the install. In my case, I found that the local muffler shop (a good shop) will provide a completely installed hi-flow cat for within $10 of the cost to order, pay for shipping, wait for delivery, then find a shop that is willing to weld on your cat instead of buying one there.

In my experience not all shops are willing to weld on a part you bought somewhere else. If they do, expect to pay $45 - 85 US for the labor only.
