Default ECC Temp flashing

This happened on my car today. The temp flashed on and off a few times well I had the car in 'on' without the engine running. Once I started the car it was fine.

Was it trying to tell me something or was it just because the engine wasn't running?

92 SE'* don't have an ECC.

98 SE'* only do if they have the SLE package. Maybe you need to get a little more specific?

98 SE, sorry i always forget to include that

I thought the ECC on later years didn't do self diagnostic. So was it just some coincidence?

Not quite right.

The 94+ ECC'* do run diagnostics and report back issues.. however the only way to retrieve those codes is with a Tech2 or equivalent. The flashing ECC in our experience can be anything from a failed temp sensor to a bad actuator and even a low or high freon pressure and more. The system see'* a fault and is letting you know.

So it may be trying to tell me this problem? where it will only blow on the windshield?

Maybe that problem or 100 other problems. We can play a guessing game if you like, but until you try to repair based on your symptoms, your only other option is to go to a dealer and have the codes pulled (or another mechanic that has a Tech2).
