On a trip recently I had the innner idler pulley self destruct, taking a brand new gatorback with it. I had to stay overnight, but was able to get a replacement from NAPA (P# 209766). They delivered the part to my hotel also, thank you NAPA
. This was a smooth pulley and I'm thinking the inner should be a grooved pulley, as the grovved side of the belt rides against it. Could someone confirm this?
The remaining old outer pulley was smooth and the bearings seamed worn, so if a grooved pulley is needed I could use the new smooth one for the outer.
Any help appreciated, as always!

We can sure help you out. But first we need you to do something. See my signature how my car'* year and type (se, sse, ssei) is in there. Need you to put yours there so we know what kind of car/engine you have. Then we can answer the question definately.

Bill, I did but 95 SSEi in the subject header, but having it in my sig is a good idea, thanks.
Echo, I had read that thread, and others, before posting. I couldn't find the answer I needed. The parts places I spoke to did know and the Chilton manual didn't specify.
Chilton has a diagram on page 1-22 of a 92-95 Vin 1 belt system. The pulleys I'm interested in are the double idlers between the two seperate tensioners.
Again, I need to know if the inner is a grooved pulley. A part# would also help.
Thanks again!

I have a 97 and the belt/pulley system may be different. We need someone with a series I to run out to their car and look..................anyone? anyone?.....................help this man out!
I believe the inner one is a grooved pully while the outer is smooth. There should be a spacer between the two for both to work correctly. Had the same thing happen to me on a dark hwy in the middle of nowhere
Easy fix though.
