Default Disassembling Steering Wheel

Does anyone know how to take apart the steering wheel on my 97 so I can get to the brights switch and replace the volume control. Aparrently my volume control has a short in it that turns the volume all the way up whenever I turn the wheel. I dont even know where to start, any help would be great.

I'd say check techinfo. The information for my 95 is there. Or search on Steering and wheel.

Disable your airbags by:

1. Disconnect battery. Wait 30 minutes.
2. Pull SIR fuse (airbags).
3. Disconnect yellow harness above driver'* footwell hushpanel.

Remove airbag:

1. Remove 4 torx screws in BACK (forward facing) of steering wheel.
2. Very straightforward from there. Look for a worn wire. Each switch VARIES the resistance of the circuit.
