Default differernt shift pattern

I recently had my tranny rebuilt (4 times , and it still isn't fixed) because the differntial exited the side of the case. I've still got a few problems and I would like to sound a little educated when I go raise hell at the shop.

1:Shift points are different ie., at WOT the points were 40 mph and 80 mph, now 44-46 mph and 84-86 mph.

2:About 10-15 seconds after you reach 55 mph the TC kicks out of lockup or it shifts to 3rd (not sure how to tell the difference), and stays there unless the car is restarted. There is no change in rpm'* between OD and 3rd ,but in OD there is no hold back, meaning the rpms will drop to 1500 when you release the accelertor. When you reapply the gas in OD there is slack untill it hits 2800-3000 rpms and then theres a pull. Know I know 3000 rpms isn't ok at 60.

Are these things related or do I need to change a TPS or VSS before I take it back?

Hmm, TCC lockup solenoid? TPS, maybe. What year car? If it'* the VSS, have them do it, it'* on the tranny.

Supercharged or NA? My Blown SSE will shift at 40-80 when the Normal shift button is pressed, ~45-~85 with Perform pushed.

My appologies, It'* a 1995 SE with the SC 3800 and before it was rebuilt I didn't notice a difference between normal and performance shift. Hmmm.

That sounds right for the difference between the buttons, so I don't think you need to worry about that.

Do you have a multi meter? Test the voltage of it while holding the throttle wide open, car not running. Might be helpful to have another person help you. It should be about 4.5V. If not, replace it. My first intuition tells me it is the TCC lockup solenoid. It seems to lose pressure after the tranny has warmed up, and that could cause the problem. I assume it feels like it slips bad until 3000 rpm?

Let me make sure I understand, there should be no difference between normal and perf shift or is it about and extra 5mph. And yes it feels like it slips untill it hits bout 3000. Also I have a new Borg/warner-Orielly brand TPS, shoudl I just put it on or is it important that it'* an ACDelco?

It should give about 5 extra mph.

The TPS you have from Oreilly should be fine.

The slippage makes me think the pressure is low, the shift solenoid is funky, or the clutch band is worn.

Well know it shifts at an extra 5mph at either setting, is there something I can tell them to check or should I not worry about it? Not like im complaining about a few more rpms, but i just want to give them a hard time.

I will tell them to check the TCC and shift solenoids. I assume that is something they can check with a scan tool.

I would assume the clutch band would be repaced when rebuilt but Ill ask them anyway.

Thank you for your help. Maybe now I will sound like I know what I am talking about so they won't push me around.

The normal/performance shift doesn't do anything at WOT. Or atleast it shouldn't, it only dumbs down the transmission during normal driving, for better milage, and softer shifting.

If your MPH changed, they may have changed your gearing slightly. This is a

The performance shift button WILL raise WOT shift points to the range he specified. Normal should be 40-80ish. The fact his are now the same means something is not quite right.
