i changed the water pump, t-stat, fuel pressure sensor, knock sensor. now the a/c and cruise doesn't work. i used a cherry picker to lift the motor up and down to get to the water pump. i thought may be i pinched some wires but can't see anything like that. is there anything esle that would cause something like this to happen?

You may have forgotten to reconnect or accidentally pulled off a vacuum line to the reservoir on the firewall beside the brake booster.

i'll take a closer look saturday. i was just curious if a/c and cruise are tied together some way that would make them both disfunction at the same time.

Well, the servo unit for the cruise operates with vacuum as do the diaphragms that operate the flaps in the heater- air conditioning system. And I believe they share the same vacuum reservoir, so that'* a reasonable place to start.

I don't know. There may be a connection; we need a smarter mechanic.

Dumber mechanic here. I say check your vacuum hoses as those are the typical cruise control problem causes for your year and go from there. EG does get pulled into the motor by vacuum in the intake, however I doubt the CC is causing that big of a leak.

It'* very possible that one item is causing both issues.
