Dash lights: Are they getting dimmer, or...
Okay, just checking the obvious, first. See if it'* an entire electrical system problem, mine did stuff like this when my positive battery cable was all corroded inside the casing, and my battery had a crack in it.
I tried cleaning mine too, but unbeknownst to me, the postive cable was all corroded inside its casing. I had the ends looking all nice and shiny, but it didn't matter, the cable itself had become a giant resistor. If you cleaned corrosion off your positive cable end, consider getting the cable tested. I'd guess against the dash ground, which is probably via a multipin connector in the wiring harness.
This is from a '93. Don't know if similar or not. It'* the only ground that I found that is not in the engine compartment, or the trunk.

Also, incandescent lamps do start to dim as they age. The filament starts to burn off the tungsten, which makes it burn less bright, and also makes the glass on the bulb start to turn black.

Sorry to bring old thread back but, can the light bulbs back there be upgraded to brighter ones to illuminate the gauges better?
I had to do this on two other cars I own.
Are they 194'* back there?
Thanks
Dave
BTW: I ask because my cluster is very dim by the odometer.
If I am talking without knowledge my bad, still learing these villes....
