Yea, yours is */C'd. Which also means you have a slightly different transmission. The version you have is a built up more/heavier dutier trans compared to the non-*/c'd engine trans.

But what I don't understand, why is it so difficult to find this part? These things are almost a dime a dozen and can be found at any corner drugstore.

i just got off the phone with advance auto they didnt know nothing about the ratios till i told them and then at that point she put me on hold and then came back and said that they have 2 ratios (2.84) and (3.06) but they dont have one for a 2.93 ratio, im starting to think i have the ONLY car with the 2.93 or maybe it because im in canada

Guess it'* time to swap out the whole trans for something with a 3.06. You'd appreciate that one more because you can really put some rubber down.
Anyway, I just sent GM Parts Direct an email asking for possible solutions as to where we can get you the part you need.

This is something billboost should chime in on. I don't recall ever needing a different axle for different ratios. Only standard and HD axles.

That'* what I was thinking too Dan. But my thoughts kept getting thrown off by what mansopoor was being told.

If that'* coming from places like advanced auto, I don't listen to them. Think about it here. You have a splined shaft, and that goes in to the splines of the diff. None of those determine ratio. It'* the gears at the transfer chain, and the gearing of the diff. Ask for a axle for your cars year, and trim level.

sorry it took so long for me to get back. ok, i need to make this clear, i DONT see what ratio has to do with a cv shaft, but i have had 5 gm dealers tell me the same thing (that i need a 2.93 ratio cv shaft). i did ask some of them what the difference is between the 2.84 and the 3.06 verses the 2.93 that i have in my car, and no one at gm could answer it. and i do agree with both of you, there is NO WAY the ratio can be a factor in the axle, but i cant get out of my head what gm told me, and it wasnt just 1 or 2, it was all 5, i just dont know what to do at this point and being new years eve i cant get no one till some time next week.

here is one thing im rolling around in my head, what if, the 2.84, 3.06, and the 2.93 all have a different spline count, or different OD, or different length, or, or, or, or am i just pulling on straws

I tried looking at the 4T65-E manual, and I could not find anything that would help us out.

I have a feeling about this one too.
Just got an email back from GM Parts Direct. They cannot research my question without a VIN#.
So, if you wouldn't mind sending me your vin #. You could PM it to me if you prefer.

FINALLY got an answer back...
Hi Mike,
Thank you. Unfortunately, the part numbers you requested have been discontinued and are no longer available from GM. You will have to find an aftermarket source for these parts.

Thanks Floyd,
