Default Cruise Control Problems...

Okay here is the deal I have been noticing for awhile that my cruise control would not set until about the third or fourth time of punching the button and even then I would have to give the accelerator pedal a little nudge to get it to set. Now this evening I went to set it and it wouldn't and then I hit the slide button to reset it and it kicked in for just about two seconds and then it kicked off and wouldn't work even with nudging the pedal. Can someone please help me with this problem because I have a very long trip coming up and I'm sorry I'm lazy and I need my cruise control.

I have already checked the fuses and none of them are blown.

The first things to check since it seems to have been moody, would be vacuum. Check the lines and fittings going to the cruise control module located on top of the transmission. Also check all other vacuum lines.

An often overlooked vacuum fitting prone to failure is underneath the vacuum accumulator. This nifty device is cleverly disguised as part of your maxifuse relay center. Look between the relay center cover and the WS wiper motor. That little black box is a vacuum storage device. There are some fragile fittings underneath that should be inspected.
