Default code 56 error

I have a 92 SSEi and just picked up an error 56. It is a QDM #2 circuit error. I have talked to a mechanic and he informes me that it regulates functions such as the shift controls for the transmition as well as some other functions. This makes sence since it is very slugish and lacks get up and go. I do not know exactly where the componets such as silinoids and relays are located making it difficult to locate the faulty componet. The schematic is too general to locate the parts. Anyone know just where to look for the relays and silinoids associated with the QDM #2 circuit? :(

Any help would save an expence, since I can check the actual componet myself, once I know where they are, and replace it/them.

Thanks.

Does the SES light come on when you coast? Is your boost pressure not getting very high?

The SES light comes on constantly, even after clearing the code. The boost indicates normally....and tries to give it all its got to get going, higher than normal revs to get going. but once going boost returns to normal. It is like it is tring to start in second gear and there is no stepdown on hard accelleration even though there is fill boost.

There is only one code (56).

OK, Quad Driver "B" is associated with three things.

1. Boost Control Solenoid
2. EGR Solenoid/Valve Assembly
3. Transaxle Connector

Your symptoms indicate that it is not likely the boost control solenoid, one of the other two components may be not functioning as commanded.

Your symptoms sound like the EGR may be stuck open. With the factory repair manual you can do an electrical diagnostic to narrow down the component which is not doing what it is commanded to do.

Of course, the PCM could be bad too, but I would start by checking the EGR (cause that is the easiest fix) I think you can lubricate some of the valves in there to make them open and close properly, if that'* your problem.

Problem solved . found the tranaxil connector and backtraced the wires. There were two wires chafed through under the air filter box. one brown, one purple (violet) both feed into the transmition. (source of the problem) fixed the wires and fixed the problem.
the get up and go is back. and no more error code.

Thanks for the advice, it helped to locate that trans connector.
