Default Climate Controls Revisited .....

Hey All -

Just got done installing a '95 Climate Control head in my '93, and it works !!!! I followed the relevant directions for installing a later model year radio (Thanks, Fuddy !!!) as it includes the necessary info for rewiring the connector so that the VF brightness is functional with the harness when it'* not getting the VF dimming signal from an original factory radio ('92-'93 VF Dim signal from radio is routed through the dash harness). The '94 and '95 control heads use a different circuit in the control head to control the dimming of the VF display on the unit, and they use the same connector configuration in the factory harness that is necessary for the '92-'93 units that have an aftermarket or later model year radio installed .

Now, I have the option of controlling the climate functions manually or automatically. All I need now is to figure out how to get the trouble codes from the '95 head, as my temperature display flashes several times when I start the car, and I read that this indicates a stored trouble code in the control head.... Any contributors?

I can send a link to the page if anyone'* interested, wasn't sure if I should post it here or not ..... :?

Headin' to Bed ......

Good job.

For everyone else'* info, I haven't had a chance to look at the 95-99 electrical diagrams, so I wasn't sure if this would work. Hopefully the trouble code doesn't represent a communication problem.

Check the procedure for 88-94 climate control diagnosis in the techinfo. It may work on your control head.
