Default Check engine light stays on

Is it norm for the engine light on a 94 Bonneville SE to always stay on? We just bought it the other day, we love it, it rides good,, but the check engine light stays on. Why?

Can you go to a autozone and have them scan the car? Without a code we have no idea what'* wrong. Many times a loose or leaking gas cap can cause a light to go on.

you should never buy a car with a cel.
also you can't get it to pass inspection with a cel...

glad you like the car.

Here is a way to check your vehicle codes on your own! hope this helps out and figure out why the CEL stays on... GM 1983-1995 OBD1 Decoder Let me know if there is anything else you may need.
