Default Check Engine Light

I got a check engine light but then it went away on its own after a couple days before i could scan it. Is there any way i can still see what that code was from the check engine light??? It came on after i went on the highway and i floored it till it got to 100 and kept it around there then after i got off the highway driving normally the light came on. There was no difference in performance idle or etc......one other question if a computer in your car goes bad would you only need to replace the computer unit and keep ur eprom thing or would u need a whole new computer with new eprom?

If you use a scantool, you should be able to pull the history codes as well as current.

But if it'* beyond 50 start cycles, they'll clear themselves.

Oh, I missed your eprom question.

Usually it'* the big silver box, and you keep your emprom, however since you have the nasty 95, it appears there were several updates during the production year. You want a PCM from any car, but the Eprom from an SSEi LATE in the production run. Say march or later of 95.

yeah im working on the tranny but im just gonna exclude the computer first by seeing if i can just grab a junkayrd one.... I have also noticed i have major water leaks idk if that could do anything with transmission functionaility but it can all be taken into consideration... I am scheduling an appointment with another tranny shop to have them look at it and tell me whats wrong....

We had one member who had PCM trouble from internal corrosion. If the water is leaking around the passenger footwell, this could be a possibility.

Oy.

Jay go to your car and pull up the plastic on the driver'* side and look at the wiring harness. If it'* wet, or charred, you know where your problems are.

After you're done swearing a full boat of obscenities, go look for Jrs3800 posts on what he did with his leaks.

Mortehl..you've seen a leak? lol

Jay.. a leak is a leak. Randman had big problems from the leaks. Jr'* didn't seem to have issues, only tons of water.

Look up Randmans posts about the 93 and also Jr'* water leak thread as well. Between those two you'll find that it'* time to pull the interior and find the lieaks. Get them sealed, the car dry and go from there.
