OK!

Alternator is the easiest component change under the hood, bar none. As easy as a PCV valve, in most respects.

I don't disconnect the battery, I just pull the connector housing over the terminal when I disconnect it from the alternator.

Thanks for all the help I dont need to take the belt off since it already popped off while i was driving. But now the belt tensioner <---(spelling) broke it locked up and popped off my belt so since its off how to i take that off to so i can put a new one on?

Sounds like you need this from me now... $20 shipped.

You just got into a much more complicated fix than just the alternator. You have you drain the coolant to swap the bracket in since coolant runs through it.

Think about this. With no belt, your alternator is probably fine, and the root problem was no belt driving the alt.

I sold him that alternator like a month ago. I doubt he is just attempting the swap now.

Well do i need the whole thing or what? I've been pretty busy with tryin to graduate from high school, so yeah i was just gettin around to the swap. Before this ive been hearing alot of squealing from that area probly for a few months.

spin the old alternator pulley by hand... does it squeal?

to replace the tensioner you need to replace the entire piece I pictured.

P.*. my engine coolant was almost empty and it was fine a few days ago if that has anything to do with my problem
