Default Center Console lid

I know I've talked about this before but can't remember the outcome. The part underneath the lid in the center console broke, it'* that part that has the little plastic 1" male hook that grabs the bottom Bezel to keep the lid closed. Mine broke right off I understood that the ones at the scrap yards are also broken. Is the replacement part item # 3 or #4 or another number?

Please select a corresponding number from the illustration below to view the details of that part.
1) Base 2) Armrest 3) Base
4) Mount plate 5) Bezel 6) Hinge
7) Trim plate Switch cover Power seat 9) Switch cover Traction control
10) Cover 11) Indicator 12) Controller Trans control
13) Shift **** Vinyl 14) Upper Upper Right 15) Air vent Lower
16) **** Upper vent 17) Air duct

You know I had the same problem with mine...

As I know you are looking for which number it is, I'm sorry, I don't know off hand, but I can tell you this, I modified mine and it'* held up for months and is far stronger than the original. If you end up wanting to modify it the way I did, let me know, I'll be glad to take some pictures of mine and give instructions, it was actually quite simple and will take under 30 minutes of your time and one of those plastic belt buckle connectors that kids sometimes have on their belts...(sounds funny, I know)

Oh, the other thing, this is also depending WHERE it broke off, if you can let me know that, I can determine if you can fix it the way I did or not, i still had the plastic piece coming down, the notch broke off though...

I think there are a couple in my local pick-a-part. Which part do you actually need? IIRC, there is a '98 SE and '95 SSEi that both had closed consoles... I imagine they have the part you need unbroken. I'll check next weekend, as I need to visit again. And again. And again.

I took the spring out of part #6 and the lid stays closed on its own. I just use it for an arm rest anyhow. I think the part your talking about may be attached to the cup holder. not sure because my cup holder was junk from day 1 so I ripped it out.

My latch broke, and it was really annoying to me the lid would pop up. I had a washer/magnet combo glued to the lid to keep it closed till I read this post. Went out and clipped off one end of the spring to disable it. Works great!!! Did not need it to pop up anyway... Thanks!!!

I'm new to the forum. I originally put a peice of velcro to keep the lid down. So finally I went to the pontiac dealership to get a replacement. It'* the number 4 on that chart which cost me $22. WHEW HEW

Have any of you had a Twighlight Sentinel problem? I'm trying to replace the headlight switch on my 97 bonneville sse and am afraid I might break the ***. Any input on this?

Thanks

Can you start a new topic with your problem? That'll keep this one on track, and the title won't be confusing.

Sorry. Like I said, I'm new to this. Also I figured out the solution with more research. Thanks
