Does the engine crank over, or is there nothing at all, is there a click, or a tick tick tick.

First thing you will want to check is both battery cables on both ends. Clean them up real good and make sure they are tight.

Nothing at all the console lights up and then just dead not a thing and console goes pitch black when key is turned over. Also the key I had just been made from the original could this be my problem? The original is worn and I know that it has a chip on it. Are the keys different for each chip? Thanks Pat

Does your new key have a chip? If so is it the correct resistance? If not the VATs will kick in and the car wont start. Here'* a write up I did on how to get around that.
