Default Car won't start.

I just changed my lower Intake gaskets coolant elbow and put a new Upper intake on. The car would start before I did this and it won't start now. It fires like it wants to start but that'* about it. Pulled number 3 plug, it looked black and was not wet at all. I'm not sure if the injectors are getting a signal to open? This overheat incident happened to my kid so I'm not sure of the sequence of events. He just said it got hot and started running rough. He parked it and let it sit till it cooled off, then he started it and it ran for about a minute and quit. Hasn't ran since. Will an O2 sensor keep it from starting. Any ideas?
Thanks

Ok, first things first.
Since you did all the work yourself of the intake and coolant elbow. I'm sure you have triple checked the connections to the coils and ignition module, in case they got unhooked during the process.

It is cranking over, that leaves usually two things. Spark and fuel. Have you been able to check for these. Knowing which one is missing would be a huge help.

I think the fuel pump is shot. Not much pressure in the rail. How much pressure should you have and is the pump a big job to change out. The fuel sender is junk anyway.

The car is running now after a new fuel pump and sending unit were installed. Did the sending unit because the gauge hasn't worked for a long time now. Also had to change the plugs they were pretty fouled after the intake failure. Car runs better than ever now. Thanks for your suggestions. BTW the rail pressure is now 48 + and I've seen it as high as 55 psi.

FYI, don't forget that a Series 1 (not yours) can test the fuel pump from a jumper behind the battery. You can test both the relay and the pump.

do you have a pic or description of where the jumpers are to test the pump? I would like to check mine just to know how it is running.
