Default Car stalls and power accessories fail

Good afternoon everyone,

I was hoping to get a little guidance on a 1995 pont bonneville - SE that I own. Recently she has stalled often and at the same time I notice many of my power accessories go away also. Actually I can even cause her to stall by trying to roll two windows down at the same time or turning on my defogger. I have cleaned all of the grounds (except the one under the ignition module - just found out where it is located) I have also tried to isolate the problem by pulling fuses and measuring resistance between the pos and negative terminal on the battery(with it disconnected of course). With the ignition key in the run position I am experiencing what I beleive to be a very low resistance between the battery terminals. Does anyone know what that resitance should be??? Also, if I remove the ignition fuses - my low resistance problem goes away. with or without the key turned on. I unfortuantely do not have a good schematic to work from and am a little lost as to all the components that pick up when the key is on. Can anyone reference a good location for a wiring diagram for that vehicle??? One last really stupid question I have - How do the relays pull out of this vehicle - I've fought with one a little - and it was kicking my rear!
Any help would really be appreciated!

i'd be curious of your running voltage, sounds like you may have an alternator/battery issue.

My running voltage is up around 14vdc - except when the car stalls or the accessories dont work - then the voltage drops out below 9vdc which is needed to run the computer. When the problem is happening and the car is shutoff- the windows wont work and the dome light goes off when you try and operate them. It acts like something is shorting to ground on a heavy load. It is getting worse also - thats a good thing- when it outright fails it will be easier to find.
Thanks for the post

Check to see if your battery is holding a charge, if you have a volt ohm meter let the car run measure the voltage across the battery terminals check the voltage if 13.8+ your ok with the altenator. Shut of the car with the volt ohm meter still connected across the battery terminals if possible. Have someone turn on the headlights and wipers, battery voltage shouldn't drop below 12 volts which means the battery is holding it'* charge from the altenator. I the voltage drops below 12 volts down to 9, your battery is most likely the proplem.

Just because the altenator is charging the battery is needed to run other electronics, remember your car has an fuel pump, soleniods in the trans the list goes on and on, so the capacity of the battery is very important.

Hey SD-421,

No luck - Voltage held fine with the lights on and no altermator. The question I need answered has to do with how much resistance I should see between the power rail and ground with the ignition on. My meter reads a lowly 5 ohms in that condition. If you hold a power window switch open or shut at that moment - resistance goes to 0.0 ohms. I have disconected a couple of loads and watched the resistance get better - but never good. I checked each of coils tonight - they all measured around 0 ohms- Normal - I cleaned the ground under the ignition module. Tomorrow I will drive the car up on blocks and begin inspecting every wire I can find - unless someone in this forum - has a huntch as to where I should look. Anybody out there seen this problem?

Check the MaxiFuse Relay Center. There may be a bolt in the center that holds the two halves together. I had a LeSabre where this bolt had come loose and corroded, and she would crap out kinda like you've been describing

Thanks MOS95B,

Already been there - ripped all of that stuff apart and cleaned and retightened it. ANy other ideas? Has anyone out there taken a resistance reading betwen ground and there + rail?
