Code 41 can also set when the interrupter magnet goes missing from the camshaft gear. For the cam position sensor to work, you need the pickup (the $20 piece shown in redsled'* drawing), and the little magnet that snaps or bolts into the cam gear whose passage is picked up by the sensor. Damaged or missing interrupter magnets are a fairly common occurrence.
So, when you pull the cam sensor (pickup) out, take a little mirror and flashlight and shine the light on the mirror so you can see inside the hole. Turn the engine over with a wrench and see if the magnet comes into view. If the magnet is there, good. If not, you will need to replace it by removing the timing cover, or with an alternate through-the-cover procedure documented by Padgett, accessible by using the search feature at the top of the page.
