I got up this morning with a call from the shop. The problem seems to be the Mass Air Flow and the ICM. I had the ICM checked yesterday and the machine read it ok. They wanted $300 plus for thiers and I can get one at Auto Zone for $125 and put it in myself. If it was the MAF sensor then I could of done that too with the part being $100. They are charging me $300 plus for the MAF. They said the car would run with just the MAF changed but no good due to the ICM problem. I hate it when you take your ride to the shop and fine out you can change the part yourself for alot cheaper. Oh well! at least my car will be running again.

Whoa...they should have called you with an estimate and asked if you wanted to have the repairs done.

The ICM I have sitting here an can overnight to you much cheaper than $100.

He did talk to me about how much it was going to cost and if I wanted to get it done. He said all together it would be like $700 all together for everything. I told him I couldn't do that I don't have that much. When he told me how much the ICM was I about freaked. He said he could get the car started and running by fixing the Mass Air Flow. I told him to just to that and get it running and I would take care of the ICM. It'* bad enough it'* going to cost $300 plus but what can you do. It'* too late now. I need my car running asap as most people do. I figured it was going to cost at least $300 anyways so I had money put back. I don't get it on the ICM though with it passing as ok yesterday. So you say you have a ICM for cheap?

What a joke! the whole starting problem was due to a bad MAF sensor. I pulled the codes and the MAF code never appeared. They charged me $245 for the part plus labor. I called around and found out that the MAF sensors are only about $100. The sad thing about the whole thing is that I could bought the part myself and changed it and saved $200. Although the guy did put a used ICM to replace the one that was messed up with no charge. I can't believe how much thier parts are compared to buying them on your own. Well she is back up and running again. Thanks for any comments posted.

I like this site alot. Thier is alot of good info. Bonnevilles are great cars and I want to learn as much as I can about them. Some things have to be done in the shop but their is alot that is easy to change. I took the alternator off the other day to have it tested and I must say that it was the easiest alternator I ever took off a car. I had it off in like 5 minutes. Thanks again.
