Default Car died while driving

Hi
Im new here and really hope this helps. I have 99 Bonnie, not supercharged. On my home this morning, the car just dies, no warning. Fortunately I was in front of an Autozone so I coasted in there. They pulled two codes, a 440 & a 336. I do know the crank sensor was changed a month ago. It has a 1/4 tank of gas, power to battery and refuses to start. It will turn over but thats it. Any help asap would be greatly appreciated.

Looked some more. P0440 is your EVAP system, wont cause you to stall. The P0336 is your 18x reference signal. https://www.gmforum.com/showthread.p...99#post1391435

Check for bad wires at the ICM. But the code is saying your signal from the crank sensor is not matching the cam sensor.

So I probably need to replace the crank sensor or check for loose wires?

Could be the crank sensor, cam sensor(not as likely) ICM(remove it and check for corrosion under it) or wiring harness. The ICM is the easiest to check or replace. I'm assuming your sitting at autozone not moving, so swapnostics is about all you will be able to do.

Just an update. After about 4 hours, we went to get the car and it started right up. After 15 mins of driving, it died again. As of right now it is sitting 5 mins from the house. Hopefully I can get it home so I can try and fix it. Im hoping this means its the crankshaft and its not to hard to fix.

Sounds like something is getting hot and then failing.

I believe we found the problem. Where the wires plug into the ICM ( under the coils) the plastic was cracked. As soon as we played with it, the car started right now. Im hoping thats it because I have ordered the wiring harness from Napa. I just hope its the right one. Thanks for your help.
Happy Thanksgiving!
