I had to replace the ignition switch last summer, and it had similar symptoms (About $400 including tow and new keys). It acted like a bad battery but that didnt fix the issue. Does your Bonne by any chance have the afternarket "ProLock" anittheft device installed by the original dealer? There would be a sticker on the driver'* side glass, and there would be a security device under the steering column in the car. From what I understand, these have been troublesome, too. I had mine disconnected and bypassed, since they are no longer supported.

Thanks,
John

so many choices of what could be wrong....

My plan is to remove the starter, get it tested, and then proceed from there to the ignition switch......i have kind of ruled out VATS since the security light doesn't blink or stay on after i remove the key.

But, could the starter cause it to not make any noise when starting?? There is a faint click under the wheel, but nothing under the hood.....maybe my ears are tricking me.

pulled the starter today and ran it to autozone....it passed the test.

Put it back in and turned the key....i got a click under the hood and i knew it had to be a bad connection at the battery.....cleaned the terminals, whcih i had done before i pulled the starter, turned the key and it started up...

thanks for the help guys!!

Its always a relief when you prepare for the worst, but the problem doesn't even come close.
