i am at this very minute trying to change the catco on my 95 se. i bought one with the header pipe and my friend said if i change it out and bring it to him just to be welded on the one side by the resinator that he will weld it for free..
my problem is right now i am trying to take off the old one at the header pipe and im not sure if the screws are coming off right..
the 2 big bolts with the springs and the 2 nuts that hold the header pipe to the engine are confusing me.. there is only nuts on one side (side facing the rear of car) and none on the other so i went to remove the 2 bolts and it seems like once the bolt comes completly off that the spring will fly out from the presure.?
and how would i have enough pressure to get it back on.?
is it easy or am i doing it wrong.?
thanks a fast response would be appericated..

They just unscrew. The springs dont put pressure onto the bolts until they are tightened down. So they wont fly off at you. I would suggest soaking those bolts in PB Blaster because chances are they are rusted to the manifold. If they dont move, you may also need some heat on them. You just dont want to break them off in the manifold.

what do i do .?
what did i do wrong.?
You got lucky then. Most of the time the studs try to comeout of the manifold before the nuts do. If you have both nuts off then you should be able to drop the pipe. You may be jammed up. Try dropping the exhaust hangers by the cat so you can lower it down

o.k what your talking about with the 2 10mm bolts is not whats in my way .. your talking about what sits right at where the header pipe meets the manifold.
what is blocking me is the thin metal that is sitting directly above the catco and is help up with what looks like (black push screws).. im stuck.. well the cat is stuck and im confuzzled :? .
cant get it off.....
