Default A/C

If the pcm is commanding the AC on.
That'* the issue I'm having, my PCM WILL NOT command my A/C on.

Travis and I went at it with the PCM, testing things, and the damned PCM won't command it.

Ideas tips or tricks?

Override switch. It is only 12v that runs to the clutch. GM was nice enough to ground out one wire for you already

Lakeville, I don't know if this is a continuation of a previous problem, so I'll ask the dumb question...

Have you checked to ensure that you have enough refrigerant? If you have low refrigerant pressure, your low pressure switch will keep the compressor from cycling sometimes.

Nate,

Like mentioned test for proper levels, check the book to ensure the levels. I think ours are higher than most.

Also..check to ensure the ECC is telling the pcm you are asking for AC. That'* the first place the signal starts. Also the external temp, needs to read over ???

Yes, there is refrigerant in there, more than enough to make it cycle.

How do I tell that? I have my scan tool telling me that the PCM'* never getting the request, and the ECC acknowledging that I pushed the A/C button, and my temp display doesn't flash at all.

BTW the compressor won't cycle or anything under 50* to prevent line freezing in colder climates.

I'm sure there is enough 134 in there. There are 2 pressure switches in the line that requests the compressor be turned on. these switches allow 6v to be put on the pcm input line. I measured 6v at that point. I could also manually engage the compressor clutch by grounding the compressor relay.

On those cars, does the compressor stay continously on or does it pulsate? On my 97, it'* stays on continously.
