yep that what I'm talking about. When the subframe dropped I lost all steering.

I should also add. I haven't clue how it goes back together and I don't if when the subframe mounts broke if is busted the steering.

IIRC it'* merely a push on situation.

The steering shaft comes down from the column and then slides onto the rack nipple. The shaft has a bolt through it that catches on a groove below the splines of the nipple from the rack. The shaft and rack nipple may be keyed so that they only go together in one position..but...I'm not 100% on that.

Thats what I needed! With any luck I'll be able to pop it back in and it not be broken. I don't know if the steering was ment to pop apart like that. As far as the subframe mounts. I have them all on there ready to go I just have to line it up.

Remove the bolt from the column end shaft. Then it "should" slide back together. It probably popped apart from the stress, and with any luck will not be too bad to go back together.

BIG TIP ON FAILING CRADLE BOLTS.

For a week before the bolts broke and dropped the cradle last Thursday I thought my brake rotors were warping...worse and worse. I was getting a light occilation in braking that got worse through the week. Towards the end of the week I was thinking, "Man this sure is getting bad quickly. The rotors must be really thin." Then I got the big bang and no steering.

I'd planned on a new post for this with a title of "Cradle bolts and warping rotors"

So my tip is...if you think your rotors are getting warped...look at the cradle bolts!!!
