you dont sound mechanically inclined but depenidng where you live there may be someone near you who could help you fix this w/o the labor costs of a dealership. I would suggest doing the lower intake gaskets too.

I had this happen a couple winters ago, cracked intake manifold and hydrolocked the engine (fortuneately didn't damage the engine!) My recollection was I paid a reputable independent garage about $750 for everything.

And yes, GM did have the brilliant idea of making this out of plastic.

Many places on this site it'* posted that if you aren't supercharged you should read about the upper intake manifold

This thread is stickied at the top of this forum http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=28226

The plastic intake is technically a composite (yes..basically plastic).

Sorry to hear about your intake failure, the parts alone (including lower intake gaskets) cost about $250 and the job takes about 5 hours. This includes changing the lower intake manifold gaskets with aluminum frame gaskets from the dealer.

***Have the lower gaskets changed when the upper manifold is changed or you could have them leak as well***

Your bearings are probably hammered from the coolant. Sorry to say.

You didn't catch it in time and you didn't drain the oil (fouled with water and antifreeze) in time. I predict a total bottom-end engine failure in your immediate future.

It happens.

Man, it must be a bad week or something. Yeah, you're looking at a new engine. Start shopping now. Sorry.
