Exclamation Brake light! Please help!

ok, so the brake light on the bonnie keeps coming on when the traction control engages. ABS works fine and no ABS lights. its only the big, red light that comes on with the annoying chime. it used to go off after a few seconds but stays on now more than its off. what could be wrong? would the brake light have a code if the car were scanned? everything appears to be fine so idk whats wrong to cause this light!

i wish it was that easy...the brake fluid is full. if this helps, the light goes off sometimes after aggressive braking manuvers or making sharp turns. i read another thread that had the same symptoms and it was suggested that the master cylinder was going bad and that there would most likely be leaking, but our bonneville has no brake leaks and the brakes are operating as normal.

I would suggest inspecting all 4 brakes. Watch for differences in wear which could indicate a stuck caliper. You could also try bleeding the brakes. Is there a sensor on the fluid? It could be malfunctioning.

i couldn't tell you... its my girlfriend'* car and she called me all upset that its doing this. apparently she took it to her dad'* to be fixed, which is a bad idea in my opinion cause he brakes things more than fixes them. i just wanted to get some ideas so i could call him and lead him in the right direction before he decides to throw a match in the gas tank.

I would start with a good inspection to make sure you don't have a hung caliper.

Two things come to mind for me on this. ABS problems or parking brake. You may have a parking brake switch that is faulty. I've read somewhere that a wheel speed sensor may be involved, but I don't have a shop manual or any other reference materiel that would be of much help.

So no other lights like traction control or ABS turn on during driving? If the inspection of the brakes goes well and all looks good, maybe think about have the braking system power flushed. This should remove all air if any.

Default Any resolution to the original problem?
