Check your brake fluid, its probably low.
If not, there is a sensor attached to the parkign brake ratchet lever on the floor i do belive, the contacts like to get dirty...

That beeping and brake light is usually a symptom of a serious problem. Don't ignore it. Dig for the problem. Most of the time it'* a master cylinder failure. Check your brake fluid reservior like Matt suggested, but also look for brake fluid leaks around the master cylinder and brake booster.

You may have a weak spring or be out of adjust on the park brake pedal. On my '95, I have to occasionally lift the pedal up with my toe to keep the light from illuminating. If not that, like Willwren says, do find out what the problem is.

well i just filled up my brake fluid n i was reading in the manual if there was ne thing and it says the light just comes on if the parking brake is engaged and it beeps if u drive more than 40 feet with it on as a warning so do u still think it could have to do with the actual brake?

Which light was on? The parking brake lamp or the brake WARNING lamp?

I had a similar problem, except my BRAKE light came on only while accelerating hard or making left turns under moderate acceleration. I unplugged the brake fluid level sensor in the reservoir and it cured the problem.

Please use proper grammar so we don't have to decipher your posts.

Probably the front caliper brake lines.
