I had the exact same problem as you with my '95, 120k miles, and it seemed to me that there was some kind of short circuit going on. I ended up selling the car to my mechanic for $500. That piece of crap had so many problems with it, that it wasn't even worth that.

I am not sure if the larm is an afermarket, I just bought this used car 3 months ago.

Just a heads up1 I had something very similar like you as well. Check your battery cables as fas t as you can. Check for looseness or movement and corrosion at the terminals. especially the neg cable. Mine was a mess and i had that same problem for week before i finally pulle don that ground cable and it practically came off in my hand1i hope this helps a little bit!
