J - I believe he'* asking if his 92 (built on 9/01/91) could have a 91 engine.

strongsun1 - check your VIN number. If the eighth digit is a 'C' then you have the older motor.

there were 2 L27'*....early production 92'* that were EGRLess, these had the aluminum upper intake and the delco Type 1 ignition.....then you have the rest of 92-94 L27'* that had the EGR system, Plastic upper intake and the Delco Type 2 ignition

Incorrect on the Ignition. The early 92'* that were EGRless and aluminum uppered had a MAGNOVOX ignition. Not Delco Type 1. This is what the topic author has. It is an L27, the coils can be upgraded to the better system, and you should be running a 180 degree thermostat to help combat the higher combustion temps the egr-less motor suffers from.

The EGR-less could be had with Delco coils, too. So there were three L27s.

Oh yeah putting the 180 thermostat was the first thing I did to the car.
I've read in another topic that pulling a vacum hose off the engine and run it to a cup a water this will be beneficial in keeping engine clean.
is this true?
what vacume line should I use?
