Default Bonne has life of it'* own!!

My Bonne is acting nuts....has it'* own life!!! I had it shipped from Germany to Guam. The 2 month travel must have harmed something.
1. Driving along--all interior light come on. Pull over stop open/close door and everything is ok
2. I return to my locked parked car...notice that the automatic antenna is up...radio'* on. I open door radio goes off...everything'* ok
3. ABS light comes on...I slam the brakes a few times. Next time I start light goes off...everything'* ok
All of this happens within one day of picking up my car from the port.....crazy. What'* going on!!!?

Sounds to me that there is a short somewhere in the main wireing. MAybe a small rodent chewed threw a couple wires durring the transport and crossed over some wires?

The interior lamp circuit seems to be grounding itself at random intervals. This will not blow any fuses, since it'* a switched-ground circuit to begin with (i.e. all its components are always hot, just waiting for a ground path to activate them), but it does mean that the lights will come on whenever the loose connection touches a ground. Since opening and closing the driver'* door affects the problem, I'd start by looking that over real closely.

Maybe a pin switch is going bad or there'* some damage to the wiring harness, especially where it jumps the gap between driver'* door and door pillar.

The Retained Accessory Power will keep going (e.g. the radio and antenna) until it'* grounded by opening a door, so if it fails to detect that, it'll stay active. I'm thinking that'* what happened at the time you returned to the car and found the antenna still up and the radio going: if it was daylight at the time, perhaps you didn't notice that the interior lights didn't go on when you got out of the car previously? (It must have been within 10 minutes of your returning, or else the RAP would have timed out by itself anyway.)

I doubt this is related to the interior-light/RAP problems. Check your brake-fluid level, and maybe see if the ABS has any stored error codes if the problem returns.

One of the switches on the doors that activates the interior lamps / RAP may be going bad.

Default Thanks for the replies

The problem can't be a door switch..... LOOk at your car....they don't have door switches, they work off of a ground path. It hasn't repeated the light problem.
The problem it keeps repeating is that I'll come back out to the car and the radio will be on and trunk open???
Brake fluid is good and ABS light hasn't come back on....it'* not doing it'* self-check though. No schuddering on the first brake application.

There is a door switch. It is a part of the door latch assembly. You have to take the door panel off, and remove the door latch to get to it.

The one thing all of your problems seem to have in common is the remote accessory control module (at least on a 1993 model).

Default Apology

I apologize...wasn't thinking about the switch at the door handle
I don't think it is the switch though...since the radio is on and trunk open even after returning an hour later. Everything is off when I leave the car. Where is the accessory module located...passenger door??
