Default biing...biing...biing...noise?wtf?

This happend to me three times so far. When slowing down and coming to a stop my car started to make that ringing noise that happens when you leave you lights on, turn off the car, and open the door. The same noise that happens when you first start up your car. All three times i was coming to a stop. Does anyone know what this is?

Last couple times something like that happened, it was a door switch.....frozen. What'* the weather like where you are? (your location isn't listed in your profile or avatar).

In'll most likely be one of the 4 pin switches in the doors. They take the most abuse. If it'* not frozen, it may be stuck/broken.

Look to see if lights on the dash come on when that noise happens.

Check your oil sensor. My car did this last year, and it happened too whenever my car was sitting still because it wasn't making enough pressure when it was sitting still.
Just a shot in the dark with something similar that happened to me.

Ok, well the weather here was in the 60s last time it happened but the two times before it was around freezing.

I'm pretty sure that I looked at the dash last time it happened and didn't see anything flashing. My parking break does work and I have had my master cylinder replaced within the last 30k miles. But I am in need of some new brakes soon.(They are beginning to sqeak a little on and off.)

As for the oil pressure, the gauge usually sits around 40. Considering the gauge goes up to 120 and rarely goes just a little more than 40 is this normal/bad?

This problem only happens once in every 10-20 times I drive my car. Another thing that might be important is that all three times I was stopping from about 40-50mph.

Thanks for the feed back willwren, jr's3800, and Tamara. This forum is the best.

I just ran out and started up my car. The gauge shot up to about 60 at first then settled down to just above 40. The car is on a hill with the front pointing up(if this makes any diffrence) How are those #*?

When my oil sensor went, it would bing bing when slowing down....usually to almost an idle. However, if i let it sit, it normally wouldn't bing at an idle. It'* a small and cheap enough part, if that is indeed the problem...

Ok well since the pressure is normal, that gets rid of the worst of problems. I am getting my inspection done within a month so i'll have them poke at the oil sensor and door pin switches. For now i'm just gonna wait for inpection to come or for the ringing noise to pop up. If it does i'm gonna be all over that dashboard display to make sure it'* not the brakes.
Thanks for the help.
