Nah...I think you shouldn't be climbing around while it'* running. If it'* been doing it for 4 years and so far so good...it'll be ok to leave it for a bit longer.

3800'* aren't known for going through lifters... Usually they last a lifetime with no issues... But its possible to have 1 go bad with age and milage in any engine... I have a slight tick from my 95 Bonnie... You'd never know it at idle, it so minor that I have driven like this for 5 years... I have just kept the oil changed... Its never gotten any worse...

On my 91, I actually decided to replace the lifters when I had the heads off 5 years ago... That was the single largest mistake I ever made... I have to chase and replace 4 lifters... Then down the road I had another go bad, it was bad enough that you could hear it in the car while driving down the interstate....

I never threw the factory lifters away... That sat in oil for almost 4 years... I finally got irratated and reinstalled the factory lifters... What do you know, no more bad lifters

By chance would you be able to get a Video for us, to give us an idea of the sound?

Oasis, try removing the belt (when the motor is cold) and start it. Let it run for no more than 2 minutes. Do you still hear the noise?
