Default Auto Leveling Questions

Hey guys i was out tinkering with the car today and had it running, after a bit the auto leveling came on and it was louder than ever. Its almost like a jack hammer going off in the rear of my car, it is so much more noticeable now when it turns on then ever before. I'm curious to what kind of sign this is, is the compressor going bad? and if so can i rebuild it or would it be better to go out to a yard and get one? and if i'm already going to be messing with the compressor should this be the right time to think about replacing the rear struts, they aren't bad but are showing there age and starting to crack. Thanks for the help

Sounds like the pump might be going out. If you can find one at a salvage yard, get it. Otherwise, check at RockAuto Auto Parts

I have found that testing the pressure at the pump seems to be a good way to know what is going on. I start it for a second and then watch for bleed down over about 10 minutes.

The compressor is rather new, the oringinal crapped out a while ago. Im just at a loss, with the lines disconnected at the strut and the weight of the car on the strut you would naturally assume that the strut would lower. Not in my case, haha. I just recently got back from Wal-Mart and while sitting at a stop light i noticed that the compressor ran for a few seconds, the ride got no better and the car is sitting even higher, then again I may be seeing things now. Is there any way to turn the compressor on and leave it running for a quick test, just to at least tell that air is getting to the struts. If I can't determine this it looks like tomorrow I'm going to have to go down and swap the two that are on the car for a set of newer ones
