Another update w/ pics - Horrible oil pressure

some of the 94-95'* with the L27 and 67 actually had some valve guide issues... But at the miles he has the heads may be due for an overhaul.... I would still like to see a Gage on it tho...
Generally cold start on an engine like that is 60 Psi.. I have seen these with oil pressure at 20-30 Psi at hot idle, 30 seems to be the usual... at road speed most will do 50-60 Psi..
But if the sending unit is bad it may not be telling you the truth either...
Mechanical gage will tell the truth

hmm, it looks blueish too me too, and since it was in 7*C weather which is roughly 44*F... i wouldnt say that seeing the exhaust in that weather is that unusual...unless the smoke never goes away once warm and driven...i would take it for a spin and see what happens

Point me to a mechanical gauge, please.
The smoke is at idle, and it cleared up when the engine warmed up. The car had not been started today, and it doesn't smell sweet. Actually, the car does smell sweet, but that'* because of air fresheners. The exhaust is what doesn't smell sweet.
I would so badly love to have high oil pressure. That would be awesome. My engine is evidently worn down, but to answer a question from way before that I haven't gotten to yet, it has indeed been rebuilt. The previous owner rebuilt the trans and the engine twice each, but not at the same time. The last rebuilds for the engine and trans were 110K miles and 40K miles ago, respectively.
Should I happen to have a mechanical gauge and it tells me the same thing as my dash, what am I to think of the constant 40psi except at a hod idle in D?

so the smoke went away? thats good. did you happen to unplug the battery or anything? the odd smell from the exhaust could be because the engine had to relearn? maybe?

I'll see what else there is to check out, but I think this situation is pretty much cleared up until I do a compression test and an oil pressure test. Wish me luck.
