hmm, it looks blueish too me too, and since it was in 7*C weather which is roughly 44*F... i wouldnt say that seeing the exhaust in that weather is that unusual...unless the smoke never goes away once warm and driven...i would take it for a spin and see what happens

Point me to a mechanical gauge, please.

The smoke is at idle, and it cleared up when the engine warmed up. The car had not been started today, and it doesn't smell sweet. Actually, the car does smell sweet, but that'* because of air fresheners. The exhaust is what doesn't smell sweet.

I would so badly love to have high oil pressure. That would be awesome. My engine is evidently worn down, but to answer a question from way before that I haven't gotten to yet, it has indeed been rebuilt. The previous owner rebuilt the trans and the engine twice each, but not at the same time. The last rebuilds for the engine and trans were 110K miles and 40K miles ago, respectively.

Should I happen to have a mechanical gauge and it tells me the same thing as my dash, what am I to think of the constant 40psi except at a hod idle in D?

so the smoke went away? thats good. did you happen to unplug the battery or anything? the odd smell from the exhaust could be because the engine had to relearn? maybe?

heres a mechanical oil gauge at autozone for $20.99

That is probably exactly what happened, though the car had the whole day a while ago to relearn because I just this week on Monday had a battery/alternator total failure. It was all back in by Tuesday.

I'll see what else there is to check out, but I think this situation is pretty much cleared up until I do a compression test and an oil pressure test. Wish me luck.

Check your PCV valve.

The PCV was changed about a year ago, but perhaps less. I'll see what a mechanical gauge shows, but all this high oil pressure talk is really strange to me.
